Inspired by this piece of newsblog frivolity (Mum! they’re stealing my ideas again!) and Cornell’s post on the subject, comments are now open for you to tell everyone who you voted for instead.
(I went with Mint, because I had vaguely heard of it, and the Ning woman, because she is a woman and Ning is a fun word.)

I didn’t vote for anyone. Didn’t know any of the folks up there.

And the voting page is incorrect as it states WordPress instead of Automattic.

they have the automattic logo up there, and the right crunchbase link, but yeah. they could at least call it wordpress.COM.
i voted for the home team (feedburner) in the CEO category

I didn’t recognize any of the other noms either.
Who wants to bet that all the approved replies over there will be ‘rah rah OMG UR AWEXOME!’ from the Snow Lovers?
…
Anybody?

I’m not betting against that!
I like Ning, so she got my vote.

I didn’t recognize any of the other nominations either but I voted anyways because they have to be better than this Automattic team.

[...] By the way, I did vote in the Crunchies as mentioned in my last post. I voted for Feedburner (RSS) and Slide.com (online slideshows). I’ve used both and they rock. [...]

Ning is much cooler than Automattic. They’re all about empowering people to create communities, rather than, um, you know.

I see WP won 2 awards then.
Kissing Bandit 11:06 pm on January 20, 2008 Permalink |
Sigh. Yes, that’s because Matt/Automattic has a massive following who will blindly do as he asks whenever he asks.

Scoble didn’t vote for Toni, though. Bad Scoble!
Yeah, stuffing the ballot with Snow Lovers is not an accomplishment, it’s a challenge! You have to direct them to the site and hope they remember to vote for you every day till voting closes. This is placing a lot of faith in people who can’t spell F T P.

Considering that they had banners at the top right of the wp.org site (I guess “Automattic != WordPress” is no longer true) I’d call it ballot stuffing.

It was ever true? OK, so they have a couple of token committers who work for b5media instead, but it’s not like they (or indeed anyone other than Matt, and possibly the investors) have any real influence.
