This is pretty in the way that only the forum can be. macmanx puts on his mod hat to chastise people for posting FAQs in the forum rather than the codex.

Of course, macmanx isn’t actually a moderator. The people posting the FAQs, however, are. As macmanx would be aware if he bothered to subscribe to wp-forums, or even, you know, check it in his browser occasionally. Which, as a self-appointed pseudomod, you’d think he might.

(Hell, he could even have settled the question by looking under vkaryl’s username, where it says ‘Moderator’ in letters.)

I’ve been a forum moderator, and let me tell you it is very irritating when random users take it upon themselves to start doing your job for you. It must be unbelievably irritating when you’re the target of their misdirected zeal. People who want to be moderators should ask whether they can be moderators (most boards won’t turn down the extra help, unless of course your behaviour has already made them all hate you) and those who don’t should stop telling other people what to do.

The best bit about that thread is how it (currently) ends:

The place to discuss this is the Forum mailing list, not here.

  2. I think you misunderstand James aka MacManx. He is very helpful in the forums and elsewhere, a very nice person.
Frankly I and many others find him much more helpful than many so-called moderators like podz. And he makes a valid point there. It was only the ego of the moderators which prevented them from recognzing the issue.

Oh, that reminds me. I need to write my moderator-slagging censorship post. Thanks!
