you can take the girl out of livejournal…

The LJ-ification of wordpress.com continues apace. Well, icons are pretty much the main thing that gets people to pay for LJ, and I’m sure multiple avatars will be a paid upgrade at some stage. I am happy, meanwhile, because I get to use the ancient wordpress wank icon I never actually used on LJ.

Actually, I made two wordpress wank icons, but the other one didn’t scale as well:

(The text is a misquote from Shelley Powers:

Additionally, you talk about the WordPress community, but you don’t treat it as a community. You treat it as Matt and the Backup Singers.

which I loved sufficiently to iconise, if not quite enough to actually use the icon.)

  1. I don’t how you manage to find all these little WP tid-bits all over the place. Good job though.🙂

Wank, thanks for the link to Shelley’s comment. I took the time to read the post, and all the comments. This comment from Shelley articulates many of the complaints I’ve had brewing against WordPress for some time. It’s funny that a year and a half later, very little has changed. Still no publicly defined roadmap of planned features; still no use of the WordPress blog to encourage participation or provide “heads up” posts about new features; still no public discussion of desired functionality; still no human-readable changelogs; documentation still plays second fiddle to the development; etc etc.

Well, since it’s Matt we’re talking about, that would probably be “Matt and the Backup Spammers”. LOL.
